Use of cookies

In some cases, Travel free may use technologies such as cookies (data packet that is copied to the user's hard drive by a web server) or similar instruments to collect data. Travel free uses these instruments to enable it to track the use of website, products and services. The Travel free website uses cookies to enable the user to register for certain services and to personalize the website during his visit. Travel free may insert web beacons into advertising e-mails or into newsletters to determine whether the message was opened and whether the user responded. Travel free may enlist the assistance of third parties for these measures, who consequently also come into possession of the collected data. The functionality of the Travel free website may be restricted if the user's browser settings do not accept cookies, etc.

Cookies are usually small text files, given ID tags that are stored on user computer's browser directory or program data subfolders. Cookies are created when user uses its browser to visit a website that uses cookies to keep track of the movements within the website, help user to resume where user left off, remember the registered login, theme selection, preferences, and other customization functions. The website stores a corresponding file (with same ID tag) to the one they set in the browser and in this file they can track and keep information on the movements within the website and any information user may have voluntarily given while visiting the website, such as email address. There are different types of cookies:

First and third-party cookies: whether a cookie is ‘first’ or ‘third’ party refers to the domain placing the cookie. First-party cookies are those set by a website that is being visited by the user at the time (e.g., cookies placed by www.activeglobal.com).

Third-party cookies: are cookies that are set by a domain other than that of the website being visited by the user. If a user visits a website and another entity sets a cookie through that website this would be a third-party cookie.

Persistent cookies: these cookies remain on a user’s device for the period of time specified in the cookie. They are activated each time that the user visits the website that created that particular cookie.

Session cookies: these cookies allow website operators to link the actions of a user during a browser session. A browser session starts when a user opens the browser window and finishes when they close the browser window. Session cookies are created temporarily. Once the user close the browser, all session cookies are deleted.

The user can block cookies by activating the setting on the browser that allows user to refuse the setting of all or some cookies. However, if the user use the browser settings to block all cookies (including essential cookies) the user may not be able to access all or parts of Travel free website. Unless the user has adjusted the browser setting so that it will refuse cookies, Travel free’s system will issue cookies as soon user visit the website. Turning off or deleting cookies will not prevent device identification and related data collection from occurring. Turning off the browser's cookies will prevent web beacons and cookies from measuring the relevance and effectiveness of website/emails and advertising as well as the tailored advertising brought to the user by Travel free’s partners. The user may also not be able to use all the interactive features of the website/emails if cookies are disabled. The user can find some helpful information about cookies on www.aboutcookies.org.
